The Postgraduate Program in Linguistic Studies has only one area of concentration - Linguistics, in which three lines of research are gathered: (i) the Discursive Practices and Subjectivities line, which groups investigations about the discursive processes of meaning production and constitution of subjectivities and brings together the research group “Language, discourse and subjectivity”; (ii) the Diversity and linguistic change line, which brings together investigations about phenomena in variation and/or linguistic change in Brazilian Portuguese and the situations of bilingualism or languages in contact in the Mercosur Great Frontier Mesoregion and its surroundings, and brings together the group of research “Geo-Sociolinguistic Studies in the Greater Southern Frontier Mesoregion and its surroundings”; and (iii) the language and cognition line: language representation and processing, which encompasses studies from the perspective of the relations between language and cognition and brings together the research groups “Grammar Studies” and “Learning and processing of first and second languages”.
